What We Believe

We do not subscribe to any kind of denomination. Jesus never told us to go be a Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Baptist, etc. No!!! He told us to deny ourselves, take up our crosses daily, and follow HIM (Luke 9:23). He did not tell us to follow any denomination or man. Paul condemns this sort of sectarianism or division in his 1st letter to the Corinthians:

“for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?
For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?” – 1 Cor. 3:3-4 NKJV

“Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? – 1 Cor. 1:12-13 NKJV

In the Bible they were called Christians (Acts 11:28, 1 Peter 4:16). Likewise, we are to call ourselves only what the Bible permits us – Christians, followers of Christ, disciples, followers of the Way, etc.

To be a follower of Christ means you hear the words of God (John 8:47). This includes the word of Jesus (John 10:27, 12:47-49, Acts 3:22-23) and the words of the apostles (John 17:20, 2 Tim. 3:16). A true believer believes all of the word of God, not just parts of it. You must believe ALL of the verses in the Bible as they are all true. But its not enough to hear them and even believe them, you must DO them as well and put them into practice (Matthew 7:24-27, Luke 8:21, 11:28, John 8:51, 12:47, 14:24, James 1:22). This is how we can know if someone is a child of God – they hear the word of God (both written and spoken) and DO it!

In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. – 1 John 3:10 NKJV
